FAQ
What types of flooring do you offer?
We specialize in premium flooring options including hardwood, engineered wood, luxury vinyl plank (LVP), laminate, carpet, and custom area rugs. Our curated selections focus on quality, durability, and timeless design.
How do I choose the right flooring for my home?
The best flooring depends on your lifestyle, budget, design preferences, and the room’s function. For example, hardwood adds warmth and value to living spaces, while luxury vinyl works beautifully in high-traffic or moisture-prone areas like kitchens and basements. We offer personalized consultations to educate you and help you decide.
Do you provide in-home consultations?
Yes! We offer in-home consultations for our professional estimators to measure your project and provide an accurate estimate for your project.
We also offer in home design consultations. You can have one of our design professionals come into your home and work with you to make sure your new flooring is the perfect style and color. Having a professional review samples in your lighting, and discuss design options that complement your décor can make all the difference in making your project perfect!
How long does installation take?
Most residential projects take 1–3 days, depending on the size of the space and the type of flooring. Most carpet installations, including stair runners will be completed in one day. Larger or more complex installations may take longer.
Hard surface installation timing varies greatly depending on the scope of the work to be done to accomplish a perfect install. We provide a clear timeline before the project begins.
Do I need to prepare my home before installation?
Every quote we prepare has a installation guideline attached, to cover in depth how to prepare for you installation, and what to expect on the day of your install. Our installers will be able to move all of your furniture, so you don’t have to manage any of the heavy lifting!
Our team will discuss any additional preparation steps beforehand to ensure a smooth installation process.
Are your floors durable and pet-friendly?
Absolutely. Many of our options, such as laminate and luxury vinyl plank or synthetic carpets, are designed to resist scratches, moisture, and everyday wear—making them ideal for homes with kids and pets.
What is the difference between solid hardwood and engineered hardwood?
Solid hardwood, we often hear called “real hardwood” is made from a single piece of wood and can be refinished multiple times. Engineered hardwood has a real wood veneer over a stable core, making it more resistant to moisture and temperature changes. Engineered hardwood comes in a great variety of specs – from builder grade to fully custom colors, widths and lengths – making it one of the more popular flooring options. One of the biggest benefits of engineered hardwood is the stability of the core – they can be made in wider and longer pieces than what you often see in the most common solid wood sizes (2 ¼” 3 ¼”).
Do you offer eco-friendly flooring options?
Yes, we carry sustainable products including responsibly sourced hardwood and low-VOC flooring options that promote better indoor air quality. OEKO-TEX certified carpets like Smartstrand from Mohawk is one such example. Most hard surface products are also Greenguard and/or Floorscore certified, resulting in low or zero emissions, from the products.
What warranties do you provide?
Our products come with manufacturer’s warranty, and we stand behind our installation workmanship. Warranty details vary by product, and we’re happy to explain coverage during your consultation.
A.R.E. craftsmanship guarantee: We warranty the labor for every project we complete for a period of two years. If you have an issue with your floors that isn’t to your satisfaction, give us a call and we will be glad to make any corrections needed from our installation.
How do I maintain and clean my new floors?
Maintenance depends on the flooring type.
Hard surface: Generally, regular sweeping, vacuuming without a beater bar, and occasional damp mopping with manufacturer-approved cleaners will keep floors looking beautiful. We provide care instructions specific to your chosen material after installation.
Carpet- You simply cannot over vacuum your carpet. Once or twice a week is sufficient depending on traffic and use, but you should also have your carpets professionally cleaned once a year to ensure they are kept in prime condition and to comply with manufacturing care directions.
Which flooring is best for pets and kids?
For homes with pets and children, durability and scratch resistance are essential. Synthetic floors, such as, laminate and luxury vinyl plank (LVP) are the best flooring options for active households because it resists scratches, dents, spills, and moisture.
Many of today’s LVP products are specifically designed to handle pet claws, toys, and heavy foot traffic, without showing wear.
Which flooring is waterproof or water-resistant?
Water resistant flooring is ideal for kitchens, bathrooms, basements, and laundry rooms. Luxury vinyl plank (LVP) is the most water-resistant product on the market, meaning spills and moisture shouldn’t damage the floors. Laminate is water-resistant as well but typically has a porous core. Water spills, pet accidents etc. will be protected from the top, but in the event of a major water event, the floors will likely be ruined. Hardwood should be kept away from excessive moisture.
If water exposure is a concern, talk to one of our trained professionals to see what product type best serves your needs.
What flooring adds the most value to a home?
Hardwood flooring consistently adds the most resale value and is highly attractive to home buyers. However, high-quality synthetics are becoming increasingly popular because they offer the wood look with better durability and lower maintenance.
Both options can increase your home’s appeal and market value when professionally installed.
Should I hire A.R.E. for a professional installation or DIY my floors?
While DIY flooring is possible, professional installation ensures your floors are level, properly sealed, and covered under warranty. Improper installation can lead to gaps, buckling, and costly repairs.
Hiring professionals saves time, prevents mistakes, and guarantees a beautiful, long-lasting result.
All of our installs are also covered by our two year installation warranty, ensuring that any installation issues that may arise are taken care of.
Lastly, our professionals install floors daily. We will be able to come into your home, and handle the project from start to finish in a fraction of the time you can do it yourself, getting you and your family back in your space and loving your new floors faster and with much less stress.
